About Cooks with a Conscience

Gourmet, vegetarian eco-catering — celebrating sustainable food
Activism for the tastebuds!

CwaC is currently in recess while we establish Source Foods: our new eco-cafe and sustainable catering company. See www.sourcefoods.com.au if you're interested.

The information below regarding CwaC is for historical purposes only.

However, if you are still interested in the CwaC concept and would like to receive info about upcoming foodie events and opportunities, please
contact us and ask to be added to our database.
Cooks with a Conscience are a collective of talented eco-chefs offering a unique catering alternative to prove just how mouth-watering ethics-driven food can be.

We want to rewrite the recipe books to prove that group catering really can
respect the earth, nourish the soul
meet the budget and still impress the masses!

We are "activists with aprons" whose service is built on:
  • sustainable ingredients
raising awareness, supporting local producers and exploring food issues
We emphasise food which is vegetarian, fair-trade, local, organic, non-GE, culturally sustainable, ethically marketed, minimally packaged and cruelty free
  • pricing miracles
we are a non-profit service, staffed by volunteers offering below-cost catering for amazing community groups

  • celebration and fun
    cooking as community building
Join our team of volunteers for good coffee and great conversation as we crank up the music, roll up our sleeves and cook up a storm.

Alternatively, our commercial arm, Source Foods offers a reasonably priced, professional service for individuals and organisations who want our sort of catering but don't qualify as a CwaC client. The food and ideology is the same. The difference is that the service is offered on a commercial basis and we do not use volunteers.

We also run workshops, retreats, tastings and events. Our service is not about having all the answers to sustainable food – it’s about having fun and eating well while gently sautéing the questions.

Would you like Karma with that?
