Community Supported Agriculture

Welcome to Community Supported Agriculture - one of our "Food Issues" info pages (see menu to the right for other topics).

These Food Issues pages are designed to give you a little food for thought about some of the issues involved with sustainable eating. Think of these pages as a taster for each issue:
just some brief info to introduce the concept and whet your appetite.

After sampling each issue, you may like to move onto the next "taster" or sink your teeth into some more substantial fare by using the links on each page.

Community Supported Agriculture is a concept which encourages local, environmentally sustainable food production, and which supports farmers and consumers alike. It is a proactive way of saying NO to genetic engineering, environmental degradation and the corporate control of food.

Community Supported Agriculture links the public with growers, connecting consumers to the source of their organic food.

While there are many variations of Community Supported Agriculture, the general concept is that the grower contracts with a group of consumers to provide them with an agreed quantity and variety of freshly picked organic food for the entire season.

Mimsbrook Farm is a great working example of the concept in practice.
It is located near Armadale, just outside Perth, and also operates a Vic Park biodynamic / organic retail store.

So is Somerville Ecovillage which is a residential community.
