CwaC: non-profit catering for an activist budget!

CwaC is currently in recess while we establish Source Foods: our new eco-cafe and sustainable catering company.

If you are looking for affordable eco-catering, Source offers great food and service at reasonable rates to everyone and may be able to offer discounts to selected charities and non-profit organisations.

See www.sourcefoods.com.au if you're interested.

The information below regarding CwaC is for historical purposes only.

The non-profit CwaC service is only offered to selected charities and non-government organisations, which we wish to support.

We will consider providing catering for any non-profit organsiation, but we have a preference for organisations and causes which are related to social justice, environmental sustainability, young people or health.

It also depends on the availability of our hard working volunteers and the suitability of your venue logistics.

CwaC clients who can not afford to hire equipment, may like to borrow crockery or catering equipment from our catering library.

If you'd like to use our services but CwaC is unable to assist you on a non-profit basis, consider Source, our commercial service. If you're on a limited budget, talk to us about what your needs are and we may be able to come to an arrangement to offer you a discount price without using volunteers.

Is my event suitable for CwaC service?
The CwaC service is suitable for relatively informal events such as community festivals, fundraisers, family events, casual functions and camps / retreats. It is not recommended for formal events like conferences, formal functions or anything with inflexible timing.

To get an idea of the sort of events suited to our services, have a look at our previous catering page.

If you answer YES to most of the following, we may be able to assist you on a non-profit basis, depending on our availability.

  • You are a non-profit organisation or charity preferably associated with the environment, peace or social justice (others may be considered)
  • Your event is at least four weeks away
  • You are expecting 40-100 people (we may be able to assist larger groups too, so chat with us if you're really keen)
  • The venue has a kitchen which CwaC can access earlier in the day
  • You are happy with a completely vegetarian menu
  • You understand that CwaC staff are volunteers not hospitality professionals and feel that your event will be relaxed and informal enough for this to be appropriate.
  • You can provide some of your own staff or volunteers to assist (essential for large or complex requirements, desirable for everyone else. Numbers depend on the scope of your event)

If you have any questions, please contact us to discuss your needs.
